What people are saying
"Sarah has been an amazing mentor for me. Her genuine kindness and her expansive knowledge in the areas of MTSS and SLP services in the school system were invaluable. Sarah always went above and beyond with her support with any of my questions. She truly cared about my success and played a crucial role in my positive adjustment to my new career serving the school-aged population. I highly recommend Sarah as a mentor!β
Kat, S-LP
βAs an SLP who desperately needed reminders of why and how to do my job as a school SLP, the opportunity to get to meet with Sarah was exceptionally helpful and inspiring. Sarah was honest in her experience, generous and clear in her ideas, and kind in her willingness to be present while I vented about all the complexities that were impacting my current success as an SLP. I left the time with Sarah feeling like I was doing my job in the best way I knew how but at a place where I wanted to know more. I am encouraged to connect with her again to find out more about how I could extend my skill set to be more collaborative within the schools I support.β
Chelsea, S-LP
βIn this challenging time for school based SLPs, Sarah helps cut through the noise by bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to provide practical steps to help us transition to a collaborative MTSS approach. Sarah encourages us that SLPs can thrive and deliver effective support to teams benefiting students in their educational setting - she's a fantastic resource.β ZoΓ«, S-LP

I'm an SLP (Speech-Language Pathologist) with a passion for helping students and school-based SLPs. After spending years in the education system, I realized that the traditional fix-it model wasn't always effective. I found colleagues and books that solidified my thinking and motivated me to explore new ways of working.
In 2003, I moved to British Columbia in Canada and found a school district in Prince George that embraced a problem-solving model with a collaborative approach - a great fit! Throughout my career in the UK and Canada, I've presented at conferences and served on committees to discuss the role of SLPs and service delivery models. I've also been the Director of School SLPs for Speech and Hearing BC for four years.
My goal is to strengthen our community and empower school-based SLPs to challenge the norms and embrace collaboration. We can provide evidence-based interventions to our students, in collaboration with our teachers, both in and out of the classroom. But there's still work to be done. The main barriers we face aren't the skill or knowledge of SLPs (because they're incredible as always!), but rather the uncertainty about how to challenge traditional ways of working and the lack of understanding from administrators on how to modernize our services.
That's why I started this! I want to make a difference and drive change in school-based SLP services. If this resonates with you, I invite you to join our community of SLPs. Together, we can make a real impact!
